Bread Pakoda, Deep fried Indian snack stuffed with potatoes!

This might not sound very appetizing, but it really is delicious. I was doing a lot of frying yesterday, and I had some leftover potato stuffing for my samosas, so I decided to make some bread pakodas. They are very simple to make, and I hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

Ingredients:

  • white sandwich bread
  • potato masala
  • cilantro chutney
  • besan flour, 1 cup
  • turmeric, 1/4 tsp
  • baking soda, 1/8 tsp
  • coriander powder, 1/2 tsp
  • cumin powder, 1/2 tsp
  • salt, to taste
  • red chili powder, 1/8 tsp
  • oil, for frying
  • water, for batter
  • Chaat masala, for topping

To Make:

In a bowl add besan flour along with all powders, including salt and baking soda. Stir and add water little by little until a batter is formed, think pancake batter.

Take two slices of bread, and make a potato sandwich, spreading chutney on one side then adding potatoes then the other piece of bread. Smush gently, so the mixture is nice and firm inside. Dip into batter and fry till golden brown. Sprinkle for chaat masala.

*Chutney is optional

*Potato masala is also optional, bread tastes great with the batter alone

*Tastes great dipped in ketchup or any kind of chutney
